Late night TV talk show host Chelsea Handler is gearing up for one of the biggest jobs of her life — hosting the upcoming 2010 MTV Video Music Awards — and she’s trying her hardest to make sure she doesn’t slip up when it comes to the names of her favorite artists, like Lady Guh-GAW and Keh-dollar-sighn-hah!

MTV cameras recently went behind the scenes at Handler’s VMA promo shoot and they caught the funny-woman going in on her staff for mispronouncing the names of 2 of Pop music’s biggest stars.

“I am excited to see Lady Guh-GAW,” Handler declared, while seated at the head of her staffers table. When someone on her team chimes in with “It’s Gaga,” the way that, well, the whole world pronounces it, the “Chelsea Lately” host said, correcting the supposed flub. “No, it’s Guh-GAW,” Handler deadpanned. “Everyone pronounces it wrong.” The comedienne pointed out that another blonde hitmaker, Ke$ha, has endured mass mispronunciation of her uniquely spelled moniker. “Just like Keh-dollar-sign-hah pronounced that way,” Handler said. “She doesn’t want you to say it the other way. I met her.”

With the big night just a couple weeks away and the pressure on to deliver another live two-hour event packed with oh-no-they-didn’t moments, the cameras caught Handler and her team engaged in intense brainstorming sessions. And the crew brought in a master of mayhem to help ideate television magic: Kid Rock.

“You can go down on Snooki in the hot tub that they have on the ‘Jersey Shore,’ ” Handler suggested to Rock. Lucky for the Handler, the Detroit rap-rocker seemed down for anything. “After a couple fifths of whiskey I’ll go either way. Hell, after a fifth of whiskey I’d have sex with you.” Handler, who has experienced her fair share of passes from popular lyricists, served up a demure reply to the open invitation for a drunken hookup. “Thank you,” Handler responded.

Showbiz vet Jerry Lewis says he has ZERO tolerance for young celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton who seem to f**k up with no conscience.

The 84-year-old comedian recently spoke with Inside Edition and said that he wants to smack Lindsay Lohan in the mouth….and if that doesn’t work, he wants to “put her over my knee and spank her” before sending her off to rehab for a while. Why? Because he feels as though she’s the prime example of a young star taking everything for granted.

“I’d smack her in the mouth if I saw her. I would smack her in the mouth and be arrested for abusing a woman! I would say, ‘You deserve this and nothing else…’ Whack! And then, if she’s not satisfied, I’d put her over my knee and spank her and then put her in rehab and that’s it. She doesn’t have the right to do to herself what she’s doing. She’s not hurting my business. What she’s doing is hurting herself, and that hurts me. It hurts me for her.”

And Lewis didn’t stop there. He also had a few words for another royal f**k up …. Paris Hilton, who was just arrested last week for felony cocaine possession!

“What they’re (Hilton and Lohan) saying is, ‘I’m f**ked up, can you please help me! I think they need a f**king spanking! And a reprimand…! They have the intelligence of a box of rocks. A bag of snails will give you better answers than those people. I think a great deal of it is ignorance and crying for something other than love.”

Sounds like Prince Harry has gotten himself into a world of trouble!!

In a new picture being circulated around the web, the famous member of royalty can be seen riding an injured pony, who appears to have been stabbed in the flank by his spurs, during a polo match.

The horse was injured in July, and it is only recently that the public has seen the photo evidence. An onlooker at the match at the Guards Polo Club in Windswor Great Park says that Harry continued to ride the horse even when the horse continued to bleed (which was apparently very visible from the stands).

Animal welfare groups are calling Harry “heartless” and are accusing him of animal cruelty, prompting an investigation to be launched, however St. James’ palace is adamant that the 25-year-old prince stopped playing as soon as he noticed his horse was injured.

The horse was injured during a match at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park, Berkshire, in July, but photographs of the incident have only just emerged. Prince Harrys Household Cavalry team was beaten by the Royal Navy by five and a half goals to five. The Navy had been granted a half goal advantage at the start of the match. Under polo rules, riders who use their spurs excessively face disciplinary action ranging from a warning for a first offence to a fine of up to £50,000. They state: Any player intentionally striking another player or any pony with his stick, or abusing his pony by excessive use of the whip or spurts shall be severely penalised. The rules also say: Any spur likely to wound a horse is forbidden.

Andrew Tyler, director of animal welfare charity Animal Aid, said: It was a heartless and utterly selfish thing to do. Polo is a very rough activity that causes stress and injuries to horses. The use of spurs in such a fast-moving event is a vicious indulgence. Spurs are unnecessary for a competent rider and should not be used to punish a horse for the riders failure to gain advantage. Prince Harry comes from a background of hunting and shooting which is at odds with the vast majority of the British public.

Tony Moore, chairman of the Fight Against Animal Cruelty in Europe, said: Prince Harry is cruel. If a rider uses their spurs in a way that injures a horse then that is cruel. David Morley, Hurlinghams chairman of welfare, said it was unusual for horses to suffer blood injuries during a polo match. The nature of the injury suggests to me that it was as a result of an accident rather than exuberance, he said. Sometimes somebody bumps into another rider and nudges his spurs in. Mr Morley said that about half of polo players wore spurs, with many believing it is better to nudge a horse with spurs rather than thump it with the heel.

St Jamess Palace insisted that the prince came off the field as soon as he noticed his mount was injured, adding that horse and rider were able to return to the match after minor treatment. A spokesman said: Prince Harry was wearing regulation footwear (round-headed spurs) worn by many polo players. As soon as the cut was noticed, play was stopped and the horse was treated properly. The horse was absolutely fine and returned to the field immediately. He added: Prince Harry takes the welfare of his horses incredibly seriously and has been riding this horse for many years. He has nothing but the highest respect for the polo ponies and would never knowingly do anything to cause the animals distress.

The couple were taken into custody after police found a controlled substance in their car. They are now saying that substance was ecstasy pills.

Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez is said to be “this close” (**pinches fingers together tightly**) to finalizing a legitimate deal with “American Idol!”

Sources close to the deal tell TMZ that despite the rampant rumors, “there has been no drama and no diva demands” and everything has been “typical negotiating.” If everything goes according to plan, J.Lo could have her name signed on a dotted line as early as next week.

Idol executives feel as though Jennifer and the new panel of judges, which according to recent rumors also includes Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler, will bring some much needed life into the otherwise dying show.

IT’S USHER!

R&B/Pop singer Usher and his young protege Justin Bieber shared a mutual, practiced handshake just as Bieber was preparing to hit the stage to perform in front of thousands of screaming fans at New York City’s Madison Square Garden for his “My World” Tour, which was recorded in 3D for an upcoming 3D concert movie that night!

Thanks to a new baby boy, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” co-stars Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney have a new bundle of sunshine! The couple welcomed their first child into the world together Wednesday (Sept. 1st) at their California home. According to Olson…she went into labor at a Phillis/Dodgers game.

“I went into labor at the Phillies/Dodgers game on Tuesday night,” says Olson. “As soon as Ryan Howard hit a three-run home run, we felt comfortable leaving to go have our baby. We love him like crazy, even though he made us miss the second half of the game.”

Wow! Are you serious?!?

Actress Lindsay Lohan may be finding herself right back in trouble very soon because a man is now accusing her of a hit-and-run accident. According to TMZ, Brayan Jaime claims that he was working his first day on the job as a freelance paparazzo with a friend….when he spotted Lilo in her Maserati pull out of her apartment complex, run a red light, and hit a nanny pushing a baby in a stroller.

“Lindsay took the red light and hit the stroller. It wasn’t super hard, but she made an impact and hit them.”

Luckily the hit wasn’t too major because Lindsay also allegedly fled the scene leaving the nanny in full shock and the baby crying. No police report has been filed….however Jaime claims to have it all on footage.

Wonder how true any of it is??? Knowing Lindsay….this is probably exactly how it all went down. Some celebrities just don’t know how to stay away from trouble!!

Actress Jessica Alba looked HOT as she posed for pictures on the red carpet of the premiere of her new movie “Machete” Wednesday night (Sep 1) in Venice, Italy on the opening day of the 67th Annual Venice Film Festival.

“Machete” also stars Lindsay Lohan (not pictured) and actor Danny Trejo (pictured below), and is directed by Robert Rodriguez (also pictured below). The new film hits theaters here in the U.S. tomorrow (Fri. Sep 3).

Lauryn Hill says she is very very close to releasing her first album in 12 years and tells London newspaper The Guardian that “it’s time.” Hill recently took the stage during this summer’s “Rock the Bells” festival tour and performed different renditions of songs from her debut solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, in addition to a number of Fugees tracks.

People who attended the Rock the Bells shows and caught Lauryn Hill’s performance had a general consensus that they weren’t really feeling the spin she put on her old classics……however Hill says that change is necessary for progression:

“I have to upgrade [songs] a bit so that they’re still exciting, fresh and new”, Hill told MTV News in an interview after her ‘Rock the Bell’s’ performance this past weekend. “I’m not sure if the audience really understands. We need, or at least I need, a certain amount of spontaneity, a certain amount of improvisation at every show … It’s that unknown, that literal X factor that makes every show different, and something I want to continue to do.”

After achieving some success with the Fugees in the 90’s, Lauryn Hill put out her solo debut in 1998 and hasn’t put out any new music ever since, crediting a lack of creative inspiration for the 12-year delay.

“There’s been such a long period of time where I haven’t been able to communicate where my mind is, where my consciousness is, where my ideas are. This is an athletic discipline. You gotta be in shape to do it mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically. But it’s time.”

Last night, rapper T.I. and his wife Tiny were arrested after cops allegedly found a “small amount” of ecstasy pills in their Maybach. Now TMZ is saying that officials are “in the process” of determining whether or not they will revoke T.I.’s probation and send him back to prison to serve some “serious prison time.” T.I. was still on probation on weapons charges following a seven month stint in prison.

“The probation office is in the process of determining what happened and will make a recommendation regarding Mr. Harris when they have all the facts,” U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates told TMZ.

T.I.’s probation officer has asked him to return to Atlanta immediately.
